Contemporary India
An online menswear luxury brand - Andamen, was founded on the philosophy of contemporary India.
We aimed to showcase the brand as one that takes its voyage around the world, bringing stories from beyond. The brand mascot has been designed as a tribute to one of the last swimming elephants of the Andamen islands. This part of our Motherland is that which has gone further in its boundaries, yet is resolutely Indian in its roots.
How do we come across as an Indian menswear brand, rooted in India yet modern in every sense.
Taking inspiration from the Indian heritage and a rich and diverse culture, Andaman creates functional and structured fashion for men, based on the silhouettes of international fashion.
Andamen exhibits the traits of an explorer by discovering hidden stories from all across India and blend that with trends from the international world. It is this duality that Andamen man is searching for - pride of his country, yet taking its cue from positives from the international world. Their product is therefore not a static commodity, it is an experience, which is rich, enchanting and playful.
Rajan, the last swimming elephant in the world.
In the 1970's, ten elephants were taught swimming so that they can carry the logs of wood between the island chains of Andaman in India and Rajan is last of the lot (recently died), while others were relocated to temples of south India or died.
